Looking back on what we did to our Mother…
I’d be surprised if you did not hear some of these “Momisms” growing up. My brother and I certainly did, and maybe a few others that we won’t mention! We certainly tested the limits as children, and when you have a Mother that loves and cares for us as she does, she was quick to let us know when those limits were reached! It is amazing how, years later, the truth and humour of those statements crystallize and colour our memory of childhood.
We give a shout out to every Mother and hope that this Mother’s Day is a truly special day for you! I have it on good authority that being a Mother is not an easy task. Your labours may be unrewarded and underappreciated, but your efforts carry with them a rare satisfaction of investing in the lives of the next generation. When we were little, you protected us from scraped knees and the monster under our beds. When we were teenagers, you supported us even when we wanted to run our own lives.
Now as adults, you are our confidant and trusted advisor. Through all the joy and turmoil in our lives, a mother is always there for you, no matter what. For that, you deserve more than one day, but let’s be honest, we’d be lost if it were any longer.
My Mother is 87 and for the most part healthy and sharp-whitted for which Coleen and I are most thankful. We visited with my folks last month and shared Easter together. Since we live so far away, we will not be there on Mother’s Day, and that makes us sad. We know many of you will not be able to share that day with your Mother for a variety of reasons. But we can celebrate the spirit of Mother’s Day as we know Moms here as well as far away are so special in their individual ways!
We are especially want to celebrate Mom’s who are trying to raise their children in our city but live in poverty…
You may recall that we are on a mission to raise $10,000 for CityKidz right here in Hamilton. We will make a donation for every buyer or seller referral, that you send us that results in a home sale. Just help us make the connections and children’s lives will be impacted right here in our city.

Why We Support CityKidz of Hamilton– Meet Hope
I was 4 years old when I began going to CityKidz. I was welcomed by all the volunteers as I walked off the big red bus and went through the doors of the Playhouse. As a Kinder Kid, I played games, danced to songs, and made new friends. When the Saturday ended, I was already thinking of the next inspiring Saturday.
When things were hard at home or at school, they were there to listen to what I had to say. I liked when they came to visit me on home visits to tell me what we were going to be doing the next Saturday. At CityKidz, I have learned that with God I can dream big, and that no matter who I am, God loves me and all my friends. I dream of being a writer someday and the first thing I want to write about is CityKidz. I hope that, with God, I can make my dream and goals come true! I am now 18 years old and I am a regular volunteer at CityKidz.
Being a volunteer means a lot to me because there is nothing more special than a kid’s smile. CityKidz changed me by showing me that I belong to something and they gave me confidence I needed to succeed. Without CityKidz I would be nowhere. So now I want to give something to other kids and that’s the gift of faith. I hope I can make a positive difference in their life, and hope for their dreams to come true.
Without City Kidz, there would be a lot of kids that wouldn’t feel the sense of belonging or the sense of someone caring for them. I’m thankful for the doors that CityKidz open in the lives of kids.
THANK YOU, CITY KIDZ, FOR BEING A BIG PART OF MY LIFE AND FAMILY!
