The Giving Back and Paying It Forward Real Estate Newsletter!
January 2019
And the New Year’s Resolution is…
Round about this time of year most begin to make resolutions. I think the idea is to resolve to be better, do better or accomplish something grander in the NEW year than in the previous year. However, for whatever reason most fall short of keeping a resolution let alone achieving it! I for one have been guilty of it. How about you?
There’s a great book that helped me and my team dramatically improve our follow through on achieving important goals and I want to share it with you – as sort of a Happy New Year After Christmas Gift.
Before I share the book details, here is my TWO PART resolution to you and anyone you know considering selling the place they call home!
Part one: The Guarantee!
I will guarantee, in writing, the sell of your home for 100% of Asking Price or We’ll Pay the Difference.*
Part two: The Give Back!
Just like last year, we are on a mission to raise $10,000 for CityKidz of Hamilton. We do this by donating to them a portion of our income from homes we sell. As you may have heard, CityKidz of Hamilton exist to increase resiliency and inspire children who are living in low-income communities by providing them an assistance, opportunity and for a short time, freedom from their living situation with programs that allow the children a chance to grow and thrive to achieve their dreams. CityKidz depends on sponsorships and donations to help in their work to end Child Poverty in Canada
Most don’t know though that CitKidz is a non-profit, so they depend on sponsorships and donations to provide their world class care and keep costs for families of these beautiful kids to a minimum. So when you or anyone you know does business with is, not only do we deliver on our award-winning service, you can rest assured a very worthy cause benefits as well.
The book I mentioned is The Success Principles (How to get from where you are to where you want to be) by Jack Canfield
This book should be permanently on your reading list. A couple of chapters I recommend you read included:
*Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life
*Practice Persistence
*Clean up Your Messes and Your Incompletes
*Face What Isn’t Working
*Just Say No!
If you read these chapters only, you’ll feel 10 times better than if you hadn’t — trust me!
UNSURE ABOUT SELLING YOUR HOME NOW VERSUS LATER?
We have over 7,000 buyers in our data base looking for a home in the area right now, so there’s a really good chance you home may already be sold . I’d like to offer you a free search and match of your home’s features to my database of buyers in waiting.

Why We Support CityKidz:
CityKidz is very close to our hearts. Their location is where Coleen grew up in Hamilton North End. We wanted to give back to our community and felt that it would be a great opportunity to help out by investing our time and money with the CityKidz organization, we could help families in our community.
We are amazed at how much the CityKidz organization does for the children in the Hamilton area. The volunteers at CityKidz reach out to over 2000 children every week. These volunteers know them by name, their birthdays and make sure that they get a meal every Saturday and Sunday. Some volunteers will situation is not always a good one so they give these children a chance to grow and thrive to achieve their dreams. They learn that they are important and are instilled with Christian values. Through the input by our Team supporting this organization, we are investing in a different outcome for these children. We know that when children are invested in they start learning that they have someone in their corner and we can break the cycle of poverty.
These Kidz can grow up to be leaders in our community. We don’t want any child left behind, we don’t want any families left behind, we know that the quality of our community comes down to the basics of investing in the Kidz and investing into our community. We know that working together and supporting CityKidz will make Hamilton a better place to live.

MEET ALEX
Four-year-old Alex’s world is very small. It’s just him and his mother, Clair, in a tiny, subsidized apartment building. They don’t have a lot of family nearby and chronic health concerns make it difficult for Clair to get out of their home.
With limited mobility and an even more limited budget, Christmas shopping was an annual strain for Clair.
At the top of Alex’s Christmas wish list last year was a piano. Clair loved music and had done everything she could to give her son an appreciation for its power and beauty. But a piano? In her tiny apartment? On her threadbare income? She felt hopeless.
Knowing how important this piano was to Alex – and Clair – Alex’s CityKidz captain, Missy, was determined to make his Christmas wish come true. As luck would have it, a miniature keyboard with two octaves of keys – just the right size for little Alex – had been generously donated to CityKidz Gift of Christmas toy drive.
Missy delivered the keyboard just days before Christmas. It was wrapped and ready for Alex’s mother to give to him on Christmas morning.
Clair was so grateful. To be able to give her child this gift of music was more than she had dared hope for.
For most, Christmas is a time of gifts, feasts and family. For the over 26K Hamilton children growing up in poverty in Hamilton however, the holiday season is often a stark reminder of what they don’t have.
Stores and advertisements beam with shiny special things designed to capture children’s imaginations. Toys parade across screens and onto kids’ wish lists. For many parents like Clair, it’s a time of stress and dismay as tight budgets collide with children’s dreams.
Peace, Joy and Love may be the true gifts of Christmas, but that doesn’t make it any easier for kids to see gifts everywhere except under their own tree. For parents, it can be hard to feel joyful during the season of giving when you have little to give to those you love most. Fortunately, support from open hearts like yours has brought the joy of Christmas to thousands of children this holiday season.
Like you, CityKidz wants this to be the most wonderful time of the year for all children. That’s why they started the Gift of Christmas. It’s a program designed to help offset the stress and costs of gift-giving many low-income families experience each December.
The Gift of Christmas is faith, hope and love wrapped up and delivered as meaningful presents, a warm meal and a Christmas celebration for each of our CityKidz children. For thousands of kids and their families, it’s a reminder, at the time of year when they need it the most, that they are not forgotten, they are loved and there is hope.
