It’s that time of year again, when kids are getting excited to go back to school after the longest March Break ever. This year, however, will look different than what they are used to. Whether kids go back physically to schools or continue with Virtual Learning, life has changed. For many, they are adapting to our “new normal”.
One thing that is certain, we know that adjusting to change can be challenging. Be it planned or unplanned, gradual or sudden, change is inevitable and very much part of being human. Over the past few months, we’ve experienced an unprecedented shift in our way of life due to COVID-19. Pre-pandemic, who would’ve thought that toilet paper could become as precious as gold!
When we kicked off 2020, there was a sense of optimism of the possibilities that a new decade could bring – a fresh start, projects to commence, travel plans, plans for socializing… all of those things we had taken for granted. Then COVID-19 hit. And with it we saw routines thrown into chaos – we were forced into working from home and grappling with new technology (Zoom anyone?), many had to learn to homeschool their children (while trying to work at the same time), we stayed away from loved ones, and …social distancing! Even Real Estate was affected but not in the way many thought it would.
Even though we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many things are still uncertain. We adapt and navigate our new normal. Businesses are re-opening, kids will attend school in person or virtually and many will or already have returned to work. But, things are not the same as pre-COVID, we must remain vigilant with protocols to stay safe and this has changed our way of life. Many now have adapted to take this time to learn new things, fix up their home, make a difference in their community and focus on things that truly matter to themselves.
Several people wanted to make a change to their living situation when they realized that being “stuck” at home. We heard from so many that had thought that home values and the housing market would decrease during COVID-19, however the opposite happened! Home are selling very fast and for more money. In fact, many people are looking still actively to buy a home more than last year. What is also affecting the market – and more specifically the increase in average price – is the low number of active listings. With less available, buyers have limited choice and the market favours sellers. Our Team has helped so many already this year and are committed to helping you and those you know buy or sell the place they call home. In fact it’s a race to help as many as possible so we can GIVE more away.

CityKidz is very close to our hearts. Their location is where Coleen grew up in Hamilton North End. We wanted to give back to our community and felt that it would be a great opportunity to help out. We felt that by investing our time and money with the CityKidz organization, we could help families in our community.
We are amazed at what CityKidz does for the children in the Hamilton area. The volunteers at CityKidz reach out to over 2000 children every week. These volunteers know them by name, their birthdays and make sure that they get a meal every Saturday and Sunday. The volunteers understand that the situation at home is not always good. They give these children a chance to grow and thrive to achieve their dreams.
So, they give these children a chance. They learn that they are important and are instilled with Christian values. Through the input by our Team supporting this organization, we are investing in a different outcome for these children. We know that when children are invested in they start learning that they have someone in their corner and we can break the cycle of poverty.
These Kidz can grow up to be leaders in our community. We don’t want any child left behind. We don’t want any families left behind. We know that the quality of our community comes down to the basics of investing in the Kidz and investing into our community. We know that working together and supporting CityKidz will make Hamilton a better place to live.
